Clare Stephens creates vessels, interacting with others, materials and objects, mirrored in curation. She appreciates clays materiality, and tacit knowledge from countless generations of ceramicists and potters. Enhanced by her use of varied clays, making and firing techniques, technical, material knowledge and form, pieces connect as part of timeless interactions with all societies and cultures. Constantly evolving or developing, allows openness to ideas, communication, while recognizing everyone’s humanity. Interacting with clay, mind and body are in unison, paralleling aspects within Clare’s previous midwifery career, explored during an MA in 2023, provides wholeness to her work.
